I heard a Belted Kingfisher on my Byrne Creek walk today, and tracked it down in the spawning habitat. It was shy, but eventually I got a few shots. Also a Great Blue Heron in nearly the exact same spot that I’ve seen it for days, and a couple of Steller’s Jays.
A few birds shot today during our patrol for spawning salmon on Byrne Creek in SE Burnaby, BC. We didn’t see any salmon, alive or dead, so it was nice to find a few feathered friends. . .
I’ll have to learn how to get more stats out of the program, but I figure about 80% of these were birds, with mammals, insects, reptiles, and flora trailing way behind. . .
Ah, I see I started posting observations to iNaturalist on Aug. 25, 2020.
Yumi convinced me that we should check out the North 40 Park Reserve in Delta, BC, today for eagles. We visit the park at least three or four times a year.
And she was right, while the eagles were not in as great numbers as we’ve seen during other visits, there were still plenty of shooting opportunities.
Byrne Creek in SE #Burnaby is running like chocolate milk. This has been happening over and over the last few weeks. This is not rain runoff, some site in the upper watershed is being pumped out into a street drain, which is illegal.
