I occasionally wonder about the apparently deteriorating ability of humans to navigate in the real world.
I was on a work trip the other day, and at one point told my passenger “we’ll arrive at XYZ at 12:15, any preference for where to stop for a bite?”
Passenger looked over, didn’t see any cell phone in the holder. “How do you know we’ll arrive at 12:15?”
“The road sign we passed about a minute ago said it was 60km. We’re driving at the freeway limit of 120kph. That makes it 30 minutes, give or take a minute. It’s now 11:45 so we’ll arrive about 12:15.”
Silence. “Let me check my GPS. . . Ah, no signal . . . “
