There were at least a dozen Northern Flickers hanging about just south of Edmonds Station in south Burnaby today. Kinda looked like a speed dating party :-).

A week after a post about robins chowing down along the Skytrain tracks in south Burnaby, they’re still at it. From today’s stroll:
Glass, PBA-Free Containers Take Over Kitchen
The last of the old food containers leave the kitchen today. We’ve switched entirely to glass and PBA-free containers. These will go into the utility room and garage for screws, nails, washers, nuts, glue sitcks, etc.

Some folks on FB have been asking about my setup, so here it is:
Tamron 150 – 600 on a Nikon D7200, ISO 6400 or 12800. Manfrotto medium-weight tripod with Vanguard SBH-100 ball head. Small LED flashlight to be able to see and manipulate camera controls. Left it on Aperture Auto exposure, took lots of shots with exposure compensation ranging from -1.0 to -3.3 stops.
BTW, 12800 was noticeably grainier than 6400, perhaps too much so. . .

I took a few photo stops during my south Burnaby power walk today along the Skytrain between Edmonds and 22nd Street stations.

Took a slow easy stroll along Barnet Marine Park, as my sore back is still not 100%. So nice to get some fresh air and nature!

Sore Back = Slow Walk = Seeing the Small Things
I’ve got a sore back, but have to keep moving, so I shortened and slowed my usual Byrne Creek ramble in SE Burnaby. But going slowly resulted in seeing lots of cool stuff!

Single-Serve Soy Sauce Silliness
I was cleaning the fridge today and found we’d accumulated enough single-serve packs of soy sauce over the last year or so to amount to a full measuring cup.
Seems like such wasteful packaging. I try to remember when ordering Chinese takeout to tell them not to include any, but forget now and then. And often sushi comes in sets prepackaged with single serves. . .
