Cold, Rainy Day in Steveston, BC
It was a cold, rainy day in Steveston, BC. I don’t think we’ve ever seen it this deserted, though several restaurants were open.
I love the continuing work to preserve much of this heritage area. Kudos to the City of Richmond, eh?
Not a soul in sight

Great Birding at White Rock Pier
We walked the beach at White Rock, BC, today, and went to the end of the pier as well. Lots of bird species to see!
There were dozens of Surf Scoters fishing for shellfish
Black Oystercatcher
Western Grebe
Bufflehead double date. . .
Pelagic Cormorant
Waiting for a confirmation on this one, but it may be a Black Turnstone. If so, a first for us!
UPDATE: Yup, the hive mind at iNaturalist confirms Black Turnstone. Yay, a new species!
Alex Fraser Bridge, Burnaby Moon
As we were driving back to Burnaby today I got a few shots of a lovely moon from the Alex Fraser Bridge and from south Burnaby.
While I enjoy driving, it’s great having Yumi take the wheel so I can relax and appreciate the trip.
Waning Light at White Rock Pier
We took a walk along the beach and out to the end of the White Rock pier and back. Lovely light. . .
Eagle, Hawk, Jay & More at Fraser Foreshore in Burnaby
A cold wet walk yielded lots of bird life at Fraser Foreshore Park in SE #Burnaby, BC, today.

Lovey-Dovey Doves
So we’re having a walk in Fraser Foreshore Park in south #Burnaby, and we spot some Eurasian Collared Doves.
I said to Yumi, “I think they’re going to kiss.”
And they did.
At least that’s what my romantic, anthropomorphizing mind likes to think, eh?
Birding Brea Island Near Ft. Langley
Initially we saw few birds on our Brea Island ramble, but eventually came across a few.
There were four or five Brown Creepers hanging out together at one spot.
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Northern Flicker
Steller’s Jay
Red-breasted Sapsucker. It wouldn’t sit still for more than a few seconds at a time, so this fuzzy shot is the best one I got.
Brea Island Pilings, Log Booms in the Fog
We walked to Tavistock Point on Brea Island near Ft. Langley, BC.
Lovely views despite the cold and cloudy day.
