Bald Eagle Dives for Lunch in South Surrey
This Bald Eagle came in for a pinpoint landing on a piling near the Historic Stewart Farm in south Surrey, BC, today.
It sat for awhile and then spotted something floating in the river, soared down, grabbed it, and returned to the piling for some lunch.
Looked like a wing with some flesh and guts attached.

I hit 2,000 observations on iNaturalist today.
I’ll have to learn how to get more stats out of the program, but I figure about 80% of these were birds, with mammals, insects, reptiles, and flora trailing way behind. . .

On my south Burnaby, BC, walk today, I spotted this Ruby-crowned Kinglet on Byrne Creek, and a Varied Thrush at our back gate.
You can just make out a fleck of ruby from this angle.
Bald Eagle Bonanza at North 40 Park, Delta, BC
Yumi convinced me that we should check out the North 40 Park Reserve in Delta, BC, today for eagles. We visit the park at least three or four times a year.
And she was right, while the eagles were not in as great numbers as we’ve seen during other visits, there were still plenty of shooting opportunities.
Heavy Sediment Flows Hitting Byrne Creek in Burnaby
Here we go again.
Byrne Creek in SE #Burnaby is running like chocolate milk. This has been happening over and over the last few weeks. This is not rain runoff, some site in the upper watershed is being pumped out into a street drain, which is illegal.
Called it in to City of Burnaby dispatch.
