There were at least a dozen Northern Flickers hanging about just south of Edmonds Station in south Burnaby today. Kinda looked like a speed dating party :-).
Looks tuckered out, but is actually grooming

A week after a post about robins chowing down along the Skytrain tracks in south Burnaby, they’re still at it. From today’s stroll:
A few shots from our complex in southeast Burnaby, BC tonight.
A test shot before the big event
Some folks on FB have been asking about my setup, so here it is:
Tamron 150 – 600 on a Nikon D7200, ISO 6400 or 12800. Manfrotto medium-weight tripod with Vanguard SBH-100 ball head. Small LED flashlight to be able to see and manipulate camera controls. Left it on Aperture Auto exposure, took lots of shots with exposure compensation ranging from -1.0 to -3.3 stops.
BTW, 12800 was noticeably grainier than 6400, perhaps too much so. . .
I took a few photo stops during my south Burnaby power walk today along the Skytrain between Edmonds and 22nd Street stations.
Saw a pair of hummers putting on a dazzling display of flight
Lots of robins chowing down on berries
Took a slow easy stroll along Barnet Marine Park, as my sore back is still not 100%. So nice to get some fresh air and nature!
Oh yeah, oh yeah, that feels good : -)
I’ve got a sore back, but have to keep moving, so I shortened and slowed my usual Byrne Creek ramble in SE Burnaby. But going slowly resulted in seeing lots of cool stuff!
All of the above critters were on the railing of the wooden footbridge at the bottom end of Byrne Creek ravine.
The resident heron surveying the pond
We went down to south Surrey for a walk round Stewart Heritage Farm. Shot a few cuties along the way :-).
We caught the late rays at Fraser Foreshore Park in Burnaby, BC, this afternoon, then headed home to relax by the tree.
A pumping station kicked in as we walked by
Christmas Eve afternoon at the bird feeder.
