Yumi and I spent a few hours ambling about Iona Beach Regional Park today, part of the excellent Metro Vancouver Regional Parks system.
Some of the highlights of the day:

Rufous Hummingbird

Red-winged Blackbird males were getting feisty, with some scrapping going on. . .

There were plenty of Tree Swallows zooming about, finally spotted one sitting still long enough to get a photo. They did not appear to be staking out the nest boxes along the river yet. . .

Great Blue Heron overflight

And a sadly mangy Coyote. It kept stopping and scratching itself, and had no fur left on its tail. . .
