I stopped at the Tantalus Lookout a couple of times over the last few days during my Sea to Sky travels.
Sunrise at Alice Lake
Sunrise at Alice Lake near Squamish, BC, this morning. I was up at 6:30, and wandered over to the lake from the campground. I realized that the sun would peek over the mountains to the east if I sat on the beach for awhile, and soon there it was.
Lovely to greet the morning in peaceful silence, without another soul in sight.
Eventually there was some noise as this raspy Steller’s Jay checked me out as I was watching the sunrise.

Delta Multiple Park Ramble – Eagles, Hawks, Harriers and More
We started our day at the North 40 Park Reserve in Delta, BC, checking out the eagles, and spotting a Cooper’s Hawk, too.
We then hit the Boundary Bay dyke west of 72nd, and were rewarded with a couple of Northern Harriers. Unfortunately they stayed far off, but I did manage a decent shot or two.
The last stop of the day was a park we’d never been to before — the South Arm Marshes in Delta.

Great Horned Owl Near Douglas Lake, BC
I spotted a large owl in a copse of trees on the Douglas Lake Road near Merritt, BC.
We turned around, and eased the vehicle back toward it, and it allowed me only a couple of quick shots before it took off.
