As I was out getting groceries, I saw the light down south looked great. Checked my watch, and figured I could get to White Rock, walk Crescent Beach for half an hour, and still get home before rush hour.
By the time I got there the best light was done, but it was still pretty.

Bald eagle
I was keeping a close eye on the more exposed eagle, so much so that I didn’t notice the second one until I got home and was editing photos
Yumi the Kid cajoled me into walking over to Ron McLean Park in SE Burnaby for a few runs down the slope.
We don’t get snow that sticks very often in south Burnaby, and this year has been quite the exception. It’s been tough on commuters, so take what fun you can!
It was pretty dark by the time we got out. Most shots at ISO 12,800. Tried a few at 25,600 but those looked overly grainy.
I think I’ve seen a thrush at our feeder in south Burnaby, BC, just once in years. Today one showed up, but was very shy. I got a lousy shot with my cell phone, ran downstairs to grab a DSLR, and it was gone when I got back.
I kept checking the feeder several times per hour, and success! At one point four were hanging about. Perhaps the snow is making them a bit bolder. . .
Less than a minute after hanging out our modded antifreeze hummer feeder, we were getting visitors this morning! Good job, Yumi!
We had no incandescent Xmas lights to use as a heat source, all donated or recycled years ago. But I found a post-Xmas clear out string at WM for the whopping sum of $2.42 the other day,
In the recent cold snap in the lower mainland, our feeder had been freezing up in less than half an hour after being cleaned and refreshed.
We stayed out of Byrne Creek ravine in south Burnaby today. The wind was strong, and branches were coming down. Instead we walked along the Skytrain to 22nd St. Station and back. The winds were creating interesting clouds.
Snow in south Burnaby, BC. We get snow here only a few weeks of the year, so I had to get out early and get a few shots on the Byrne Creek ravine trail.
I walked the Fraser Foreshore Park riverside trail this afternoon, starting from the parking lot at Byrne Road and going all the way east to the meadow and back, and then west to Sussex Creek and back.
I never use bait for wildlife photos, but folks leave seeds along this popular trail, making for nice bird shooting opportunities.
Sora the Cat has come a long way since we adopted her as a terrified, untouchable young girl about half a year ago. Love, patience, and trust-building can do wonders. She is now a total love bug.
